Um exemplo de autenticação step-up é quando um usuário está logado em sua conta bancária (com ou sem MFA) e solicita uma ação considerada sensível, como a transferência de uma grande quantia de dinheiro. Nesses casos, o usuário deverá fornecer informações adicionais para autenticar sua identidade (ex. usando MFA) e garantir que apenas o usuário legítimo esteja solicitando a ação.
